As someone who also has such friendship commitments with a certain individual in my life, it's possible that she sees that and doesn't want anything similar in a romantic prospect. I recommend that any such arrangements are disclosed in advance so that such a thing wouldn't be so off putting.

And yes, my sister is very fun. She does have a protective lion in her life, however.
